Treatment Planning

Once you have decided to proceed, detailed 3D imaging and digital scanning are used to plan the precise placement of every implant. This planning stage is what makes same-day placement possible and what ensures the procedure is carried out safely and accurately. Smile-in-a-Day Procedure

On the day of your procedure, Dr Nik places four to six implants into the jawbone under local anaesthetic. The extractions of any remaining failing teeth are carried out at the same appointment if required. A temporary fixed bridge is then secured to the implants before you leave the practice. Is Smile-in-a-Day painful?

The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic so you should not feel pain during the surgery itself. Afterwards, most patients experience some tenderness and swelling for a few days, which is entirely normal and manageable with over-the-counter pain relief. The level of discomfort is typically much less than patients expect before their procedure.

How long does the procedure take?

The Smile-in-a-Day procedure typically takes several hours in a single clinical session. The exact duration depends on the number of implants being placed and whether any extractions are required at the same appointment. Dr Nik will give you a clear expectation of timings at your consultation.

Will I need bone grafting?

In many cases, no. The All-on-4 technique, where implants are placed at a specific angle to maximise contact with available bone, is designed to work well even in patients with some degree of bone loss. Whether bone grafting is needed depends on your individual bone volume and quality, which Dr Nik will assess thoroughly during the planning stage.

What do temporary teeth look like?

The temporary bridge fitted on the day of your procedure is designed to look natural and function well from day one. It is not a placeholder that looks unfinished. Can I eat normally afterwards?
