Invisalign Teen in Cheshire

The same virtually invisible clear aligner system as adult Invisalign, designed specifically for teenagers. No fixed brackets, no wires, and no reason for a teenager to feel self-conscious about their smile during treatment.

Straightening Your Teenager's Teeth Without Making Their Life Harder

The teenage years are not the easiest time to introduce orthodontic treatment into the picture. School, social life, sport, self-consciousness about appearance, the awareness of how they look in every photograph. Adding a mouth full of metal brackets and wires to all of that is something many parents and teenagers are increasingly reluctant to do, particularly when the results look the same either way.

Invisalign Teen offers a different experience. The aligners are clear, removable, and designed around the practical realities of a teenager’s daily life. They can be taken out for sport, for school photos, for formal occasions. They do not require food to be cut a certain way or certain things to be avoided entirely. They do not create the same kind of self-consciousness that fixed braces can cause because most people, from a normal distance, cannot tell they are being worn.

For parents, Invisalign Teen also addresses one of the most common concerns about clear aligner treatment for younger patients: compliance. The system includes compliance indicators built into the aligners, small blue dots that fade with wear, which give parents a clear, non-confrontational way to check whether the aligners are being worn for the recommended time each day.

At Heritage Smile Group, all Invisalign treatment including Teen is led personally by Dr Natasja Kashyap at both our Wilmslow and Northwich practices. We are a Platinum Invisalign provider, and Dr Natasja manages every case from the initial 3D digital scan through to the final retainer fitting.

How Invisalign Teen Works and What Makes It Different

Invisalign Teen uses the same core technology as the broader Invisalign system. A 3D digital scan of the teeth is taken, the complete treatment is planned digitally in advance, and a series of custom-made clear aligners is manufactured specifically for the patient. Each aligner is worn for one to two weeks before the patient progresses to the next, with each step making a small, precise adjustment to the position of specific teeth.

What sets Invisalign Teen apart from the adult options is a set of features specifically designed for younger patients.

Compliance Indicators

Each Invisalign Teen aligner includes a small blue compliance dot that fades with wear. The dot starts blue and becomes clear after approximately 20 to 22 hours of daily wear, which is the recommended wear time. This gives parents a discreet, objective way to check whether the aligners are being worn correctly without having to rely entirely on the teenager's word.

Eruption Tabs

Teenagers are still developing dentally. Some teeth may not have fully erupted at the start of treatment and will continue to come through during the course. Eruption tabs are small spaces built into the aligners to accommodate teeth that have not yet fully emerged, allowing treatment to progress even as the dentition continues to develop.

Replacement Aligners

Teenagers are more likely than adults to lose or damage aligners. Invisalign Teen includes a set of replacement aligners as part of the treatment, providing additional peace of mind for parents and removing the stress of an accidental loss derailing the entire treatment plan.

The Same Clear Aligner Technology

Beyond the features specific to the Teen version, the treatment itself uses the same virtually invisible, removable aligners as the adult system. The clinical outcome, a set of straighter teeth with a virtually undetectable treatment process, is identical.

The Alignment Concerns Invisalign Teen Is Designed For

Invisalign Teen is suitable for a wide range of orthodontic concerns in teenage patients. The complexity of the case determines the duration and cost of treatment, but the system is capable of addressing the full range of alignment issues that teenagers typically present with.

Crowded Teeth

Crowding is one of the most common orthodontic concerns in teenagers, often presenting as the teeth becoming too large for the developing jaw. Invisalign Teen gradually creates space and moves crowded teeth into their correct positions, addressing both the cosmetic and health-related aspects of crowding.

Gapped Teeth

Spacing between teeth, whether at the front of the smile or elsewhere in the arch, can be addressed with Invisalign Teen by gradually moving the adjacent teeth together. The rate of closure depends on the size of the gap and the overall treatment plan.

Overbite

Where the upper front teeth overlap too far over the lower front teeth, Invisalign Teen can correct mild to moderate overbites by moving the teeth into better vertical alignment. Addressing an overbite during the teenage years, when the jaw is still developing, often produces more efficient results than leaving it until adulthood.

Underbite

Where the lower front teeth sit ahead of the upper teeth when biting, Invisalign Teen can address mild to moderate underbites. For more significant skeletal underbites, Dr Natasja will discuss whether a combined orthodontic and other approach is more appropriate.

Crossbite

A crossbite occurs when one or more upper teeth sit inside the lower teeth rather than outside them. Left untreated, crossbites can cause uneven wear and gum recession. Invisalign Teen can correct crossbites by moving the affected teeth into their correct positions relative to the opposing arch.

Open Bite

Where the front teeth do not meet when the mouth is closed, Invisalign Teen can correct mild to moderate open bites. Open bites are relatively common in teenagers, sometimes developing as a result of habits such as thumb sucking in earlier childhood, and Invisalign can address them effectively in the right cases.

Why Many Families Choose Invisalign Teen Over Traditional Braces

Fixed metal braces have a long and well-established track record in orthodontics and remain a perfectly effective treatment for many patients. The question parents and teenagers are increasingly asking is not whether fixed braces work but whether the experience of wearing them is necessary when an alternative is available that produces the same result.

What Parents Want to Know About Invisalign Teen

  • The compliance question

The most common concern parents raise about clear aligner treatment for teenagers is compliance. Will they actually wear them? This is a completely fair concern. Invisalign Teen addresses it with the built-in compliance indicators, and Dr Natasja will discuss realistic expectations and practical strategies for supporting consistent wear at your consultation. The aligners need to be worn for 20 to 22 hours per day to stay on track. The treatment works when they are worn as prescribed, and the compliance dot makes monitoring this straightforward.

  • The cost question

Invisalign Teen is priced on the same scale as the adult options, with cost depending on the complexity of the case. Finance options are available to spread the cost over monthly payments. Your exact treatment cost will be confirmed at the free smile assessment following Dr Natasja’s clinical assessment.

  • The involvement question

Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend consultations and review appointments, particularly at the start of treatment. Dr Natasja will explain the treatment clearly to both the parent and the teenager at the consultation and will answer questions from both. The more informed and engaged both parties are at the outset, the smoother the treatment tends to run.

  • The lost aligner question

Teenagers lose things. Invisalign Teen includes replacement aligners specifically because of this. If an aligner is lost or damaged, contact the practice as soon as possible and we will arrange a replacement. Having the patient move to the next aligner or step back to the previous one temporarily is usually the right interim step while a replacement is ordered.

Your Teenager's Invisalign Journey at Heritage Smile Group

Free Smile Assessment

The journey begins with a free smile assessment for both the teenager and their parent or guardian. Dr Natasja examines the teeth, assesses the dental development stage, discusses the alignment concerns and goals, and gives an honest assessment of whether Invisalign Teen is suitable. The teenager is very much part of the conversation. There is no commitment at this stage.

3D Digital Scan

If you decide to proceed, a full clinical examination is carried out and a 3D digital scan of the teeth is taken using an intraoral scanner. There are no messy impressions. The scan is submitted to Invisalign who plan the full treatment and manufacture the custom aligners including the replacement set.

ClinCheck Treatment Plan Review

Before the aligners are made, the ClinCheck digital simulation is reviewed with Dr Natasja. This shows the planned tooth movements from start to finish and gives both the teenager and their parent a clear picture of the expected outcome before treatment begins.

Aligner Collection

The aligners are typically ready within one to two weeks of the scan. At the collection appointment, Dr Natasja shows the patient how to insert and remove the aligners correctly, explains the wear schedule and the compliance indicators, and answers any practical questions about living with Invisalign Teen.

Treatment Progress

Each aligner is worn for one to two weeks before progressing to the next. Review appointments every six to eight weeks allow Dr Natasja to monitor progress, confirm the teeth are tracking as planned, and provide the next set of aligners. Treatment duration depends on the complexity of the case and ranges from three months for very minor cases to twenty-four months for more complex ones.

Retainers

Once the final aligner is complete and Dr Natasja has confirmed the result, retainers are fitted. Retainer wear is essential after Invisalign Teen. Teeth that have been moved will drift back without retention, and establishing a good retainer habit early is the most important thing a patient can do to protect their result long term. We offer Vivera retainers, made by Invisalign and at least 30% more durable than standard clear retainers.

Led Personally by Dr Natasja Kashyap

All Invisalign Teen treatment at Heritage Smile Group is led personally by Dr Natasja Kashyap, a certified Platinum Invisalign provider. She manages every case from the initial digital scan and ClinCheck review through to retainer fitting.

Her approach to treating teenage patients is warm, clear, and patient. She understands that a consultation for a teenager is a different kind of conversation than one with an adult, and she takes the time to make sure the patient themselves understands the treatment and feels genuinely comfortable with the plan before anything is agreed.

What Patients and Parents Say About Invisalign Teen

“My daughter had been asking about getting her teeth straightened for a couple of years but the idea of metal braces was something she really did not want. We found Heritage Smile Group and booked a consultation. Dr Natasja was brilliant with her, explained everything clearly to both of us, and my daughter felt completely at ease. She is seven months into treatment and not one of her friends has noticed she is wearing aligners.”

Spreading the Cost of Invisalign Teen

Invisalign Teen is priced based on the complexity of the individual case. Your exact cost will be confirmed at the free smile assessment following Dr Natasja’s clinical assessment. Finance options are available to spread the investment over manageable monthly payments. There is no pressure to decide on the day.

Questions Parents and Teenagers Ask About Invisalign Teen

Most patients start Invisalign Teen between the ages of 12 and 17, though the right timing depends on dental development rather than age alone. Most permanent teeth should have erupted before comprehensive treatment begins. Dr Natasja will assess your teenager’s dental development at the smile assessment and advise on whether the timing is right to start or whether waiting for further development would be beneficial.

Treatment duration depends on the complexity of the case. Very minor cases treated with a short course can be completed in three months. More comprehensive treatments involving significant repositioning can take up to twenty-four months. The exact duration is discussed at the consultation following Dr Natasja’s clinical assessment and is confirmed when the ClinCheck treatment plan is reviewed.

Invisalign Teen includes replacement aligners for exactly this reason. Contact the practice as soon as possible if an aligner is lost or damaged. In most cases the patient can move to the next aligner in the series or step back to the previous one temporarily while a replacement is arranged. Try not to leave the situation unaddressed for long as the teeth can begin to shift if no aligner is being worn.

Yes. The aligners should be removed for contact sport and a mouth guard worn in their place, as with any orthodontic treatment. For non-contact sport, the aligners can be worn normally. This is one of the practical advantages of clear aligner treatment over fixed braces, which cannot be removed and which require a mouth guard with a different fit.

Each Invisalign Teen aligner includes a blue compliance indicator dot that fades to clear after approximately 20 to 22 hours of daily wear. If the dot is still blue after a day or two, it indicates the aligners are not being worn for the recommended time. This gives parents a clear, factual, and non-confrontational way to monitor compliance without having to rely on the teenager’s own report.

Some patients notice a slight awareness of the aligners when speaking in the first few days of wearing a new set, particularly with certain sounds. This is almost always temporary and resolves within a day or two as the mouth adapts. Most teenagers find that any speech effect disappears very quickly and that friends and teachers do not notice any change in their speech.

Yes. The aligners are removed for eating and drinking anything other than plain water. There are no dietary restrictions with Invisalign Teen, unlike fixed braces where certain foods need to be avoided. The aligners should be reinserted as soon as possible after eating and the teeth should be brushed before they go back in.

The cost of Invisalign Teen compared to fixed braces depends on the specific case and the practice. At Heritage Smile Group, Invisalign Teen is priced based on the complexity of the case and is in a comparable range to fixed orthodontic treatment for many patients. Finance options are available to spread the cost over monthly payments. Your exact cost will be confirmed at the free smile assessment.
