Dermal Fillers in Cheshire

Restore lost volume, define facial features, and complement your smile with dermal filler treatments administered conservatively by qualified dental clinicians. Natural results that enhance rather than alter.

Volume Lost Gradually. Confidence Lost With It.

The changes that happen to the face with age are subtle enough that most people cannot pinpoint exactly when they started. The cheeks that once had a natural fullness begin to flatten slightly. The area beneath the eyes becomes a little hollower. The lines from the nose to the mouth deepen not because the skin has changed but because the volume beneath it has reduced. The lips thin slightly at the border and lose some of the definition they once had.

None of these changes happen overnight. They accumulate slowly, over years, until one day a photograph catches you at an angle and the face looking back feels older than you expected. Not because anything is dramatically wrong. Just because something has quietly gone.

Dermal fillers exist precisely to address this kind of gradual change. Not to transform the face into something it has never been, but to restore it towards something it recognisably was. Volume replaced where it has been lost. Definition restored where it has softened. A result that looks natural because it is working with the face rather than against it.

At Heritage Smile Group, dermal fillers are administered by qualified dental clinicians whose training in the detailed anatomy of the face, its muscles, nerves, blood vessels, and structural layers, makes them exceptionally well placed to administer filler safely and precisely. Our approach is always conservative. We do not overfill. We do not aim for dramatic changes. We aim for results that make people ask why you are looking so well, not what you have done.

How Dermal Fillers Work

Dermal fillers are injectable gels used to add volume, restore contour, and define specific features of the face. The fillers we use at Heritage Smile Group are based on hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally throughout the body in skin, connective tissue, and joints. Because hyaluronic acid is biocompatible, meaning the body recognises and tolerates it naturally, it integrates well with the surrounding tissue and carries a low risk of adverse reaction.

The gel is injected beneath the skin using a fine needle or cannula at precise locations determined by the clinician’s assessment of the face and the patient’s goals. The result is immediate and visible on the day of treatment, though some initial swelling means the fully settled result takes a few days to become apparent.

One of the most important properties of hyaluronic acid filler is that it is fully reversible. An enzyme called hyaluronidase can dissolve hyaluronic acid filler quickly and completely if a patient is unhappy with the result or if any complication arises. This reversibility is one of the primary reasons hyaluronic acid fillers are consistently preferred over permanent or semi-permanent filler alternatives, which cannot be removed once placed.

Results typically last between six and eighteen months depending on the product used, the area treated, and individual factors including metabolism and the degree of movement in the treated area.

The Anatomy Knowledge That Makes the Difference

Dermal filler injections involve placing products in precise locations beneath the skin of the face. The safety of this procedure depends fundamentally on the clinician’s understanding of what lies beneath the skin at each injection site, the blood vessels that must be avoided, the nerve structures that must not be disrupted, and the tissue planes at which different products perform best.

Dental clinicians spend years studying the detailed anatomy of the head, face, and neck as a core component of their clinical training. This is not anatomy studied from a textbook and then set aside. It is anatomy applied daily in a clinical setting, understanding the structures of the face well enough to navigate them precisely with instruments and injections in one of the most sensitive and anatomically complex regions of the body.

This is why an increasing number of patients are choosing to have dermal fillers administered by dental clinicians rather than by practitioners in beauty or aesthetics settings who may not have the same depth of clinical anatomical training. The treatment is the same. The foundation it is built on is not always comparable.

At Heritage Smile Group, facial aesthetics are offered not as a commercial add-on but as a natural clinical extension of the care we provide. The same attention to detail, the same conservative philosophy, and the same commitment to honest recommendations that define our dental work apply to every facial aesthetics treatment we administer.

The Areas We Treat with Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers can be used across a range of areas of the face to restore volume, reduce the appearance of lines and hollows, and define specific features. The areas we treat most commonly at Heritage Smile Group are listed below. At your consultation the clinician will assess which areas are appropriate for your individual face and goals and will recommend only what is genuinely needed.

  • Lip Enhancement

Add volume, improve symmetry, and restore definition.

Lip filler is one of the most commonly requested dermal filler treatments. At Heritage Smile Group, our approach is consistently conservative. We aim to enhance the natural lip shape, add subtle volume where it has been lost or where the patient feels the lips are naturally thin, and improve symmetry where one lip is noticeably different to the other in size or shape.

We do not overfill. We do not aim for results that look disproportionate to the rest of the face. A well-done lip treatment should make the lips look naturally full and defined, not obviously treated. The goal is always lips that suit the face rather than lips that compete with it.

The lips are one of the most movement-intensive areas of the face, which means filler placed here typically lasts between four and six months before a top-up is beneficial.

  • Lip Border Definition

Restore definition and reduce fine lines around the mouth.

As the face ages, the definition of the lip border can be reduced and fine vertical lines can develop around the mouth, particularly in the upper lip. A small amount of filler placed precisely at the vermilion border, the edge where the lip meets the skin, restores the crispness of this line and can significantly reduce the appearance of lipstick bleeding around the edges.

This is a subtle and technically precise treatment that can make a meaningful difference to the overall appearance of the mouth area without adding bulk or changing the overall shape of the lips.

  • Nasolabial Folds

Soften the lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth.

Nasolabial folds, the lines that run from the sides of the nose down to the corners of the mouth, are one of the most common ageing concerns patients raise. They deepen primarily because the volume in the cheeks above them has reduced, causing the skin to fold inward as the structural support beneath it diminishes.

The most effective way to address nasolabial folds with filler is often to restore the cheek volume above them rather than to fill the fold itself directly. By rebuilding the structural support that has been lost, the folds soften naturally as the skin is lifted rather than simply being filled from below. At your consultation, the clinician will assess the most appropriate approach for your individual presentation.

  • Cheek Enhancement

Restore or enhance the volume and definition of the mid-face.

Cheek filler is one of the most impactful and versatile dermal filler treatments available. Volume in the cheeks supports the mid-face structurally, and restoring it has a ripple effect that can improve the appearance of nasolabial folds, under-eye hollowing, and the overall contour of the lower face simultaneously.

Conservative cheek enhancement should produce a natural lift and definition that looks like healthy, youthful facial structure rather than an obvious cosmetic intervention. Placement is in the deep fat compartments of the cheek and along the cheekbone, creating a result that integrates naturally with the face rather than sitting on top of it.

  • Tear Troughs

Address under-eye hollowing and the tired, shadowed appearance it creates.

The tear trough is the hollow that forms at the junction of the lower eyelid and the upper cheek, often creating a shadow that makes the face look fatigued regardless of how well-rested the patient is. It is one of the most impactful concerns to address when the goal is simply looking less tired, and one of the treatments that produces some of the most emotionally significant results for patients.

Tear trough treatment is technically one of the most demanding dermal filler procedures. The tissue in this area is thin, the blood vessels are close to the surface, and the margin for error is small. It requires a clinician with a thorough understanding of the anatomy of this region, genuine experience in treating it, and the judgement to know when it is and is not the right treatment for a given presentation. Not all under-eye concerns are best addressed with filler, and the clinician will assess your individual anatomy carefully before recommending this treatment.

  • Jawline Definition

Sharpen and define the lower face.

A defined jawline creates a more structured, youthful lower face and improves the overall proportion and balance of the face from the front and the side. Filler placed along the jawline can sharpen the angle of the jaw, improve the contour of the chin and jawline in profile, and reduce the appearance of jowling where the skin along the jaw has softened.

Jawline definition treatment often combines well with chin projection and with jaw slimming anti-wrinkle treatment to create a comprehensive lower face refinement. The combination of reducing masseter bulk with anti-wrinkle injections and defining the jawline with filler is one of the most effective ways to improve the contour of the lower face without any surgical intervention.

  • Chin Projection

Improve the balance and profile of the face.

A chin that is proportionally recessed can affect the overall balance of the face both from the front and in profile, and can make the nose appear more prominent than it actually is by comparison. A small amount of filler at the chin point can improve the projection of the chin, create better balance between the upper and lower face, and improve the profile significantly.

Chin projection treatment is often discussed alongside jawline definition as part of a lower face plan, and it combines particularly well with dental treatment in patients where the position of the chin is connected to the bite or dental structure. At Heritage Smile Group, the conversation about chin projection can be had in a clinical context that considers both the facial aesthetics and the dental picture together.

  • Marionette Lines

Soften the lines from the corners of the mouth downward.

Marionette lines run from the corners of the mouth downward towards the chin. They develop as a combination of skin laxity, volume loss in the lower face, and the downward pull of facial muscles over time. They can give the lower face a downturned appearance that many patients describe as making them look sad or stern even when they are not.

Filler placed at the marionette line area, often in combination with treatment to restore lower face volume more broadly, can soften the downturned appearance of the lower face and restore a more neutral and rested expression to the mouth area.

What Happens at Your Dermal Filler Appointment

Pre-Treatment Assessment

Before any product is injected, the clinician carries out a brief pre-treatment assessment to confirm suitability, check for any contraindications, and agree the treatment plan for the appointment. Photographs are taken for clinical records.

Preparation

The skin is cleaned and in areas where more sensitivity is anticipated, topical anaesthetic cream may be applied. Most hyaluronic acid fillers also contain a small amount of local anaesthetic within the product itself, which helps to reduce discomfort during the injection process.

Treatment

The filler is injected using either a fine needle or a blunt-tipped cannula depending on the area being treated and the clinician’s preferred technique. The appointment typically takes between thirty minutes and one hour depending on the number of areas being treated.

Immediately After

Some swelling, redness, and minor bruising at the injection sites is normal and expected. The severity varies between patients and between treatment areas, with lip treatment typically producing more initial swelling than other areas. Most patients feel comfortable going about their normal activities immediately after treatment, though some prefer to schedule the appointment before a period of a few days at home if they are concerned about visible post-treatment effects.

The Settled Result

Initial swelling typically resolves within 48 to 72 hours. The fully settled result is most accurately assessed at two weeks when all swelling has resolved and the filler has integrated with the surrounding tissue.

Two-Week Review

A review appointment is included for all new patients at two weeks. The clinician assesses the settled result, checks for any asymmetry, and makes minor adjustments where needed. This is also the appropriate time to discuss whether any additional product would be beneficial in any area.

A Consultation That Is About What Is Right for You

Our dermal filler consultations are unhurried and genuinely informative. The clinician will listen to your concerns, assess your face as a whole, and give you an honest picture of what each treatment can realistically achieve for your individual anatomy.

We will never recommend more treatment than is appropriate. We will never pressure you to have additional areas done that you have not asked about. And we will always tell you clearly if a treatment you are enquiring about is not right for your situation, along with what might be a better alternative.

If you are new to fillers, the clinician will take time to explain how the treatment works, what the recovery period looks like, what the risks are, and what the expected result will be before you commit to anything. There is no pressure and no obligation on the day.

For patients who are combining dermal fillers with dental treatment or anti-wrinkle treatment, the consultation considers the whole picture so that every element of the plan works together towards a cohesive result.

How Much Do Dermal Fillers Cost?

We know that cost is one of the first things on most patients’ minds when considering dermal Fillers and we think that is a completely reasonable place to start. Treatment is a meaningful investment and you deserve to know what you are getting into before you commit to anything.

At Heritage Smile Group, every patient receives a written treatment plan with a full, itemised cost breakdown before any treatment begins. There are no hidden extras, no charges added after the fact, and no pressure to proceed before you are ready.

Dermal filler treatment is priced at consultation based on the area and product required. All costs are confirmed in writing before treatment begins. There are no hidden extras and no pressure to proceed until you are ready.

Dermal filler pricing is confirmed at consultation as the cost depends on the area being treated and the amount of product required. For a full overview of our facial aesthetics fees, visit our dedicated fees page.

Questions Patients Ask About Dermal Fillers

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers have a well-established safety record when administered by a clinician with appropriate anatomical training and clinical experience. At Heritage Smile Group, fillers are administered by qualified dental clinicians with detailed training in facial anatomy. All fillers used are hyaluronic acid based and fully reversible. Hyaluronidase is available at the practice to dissolve filler immediately in the event of any complication.

Most patients find dermal filler treatment very manageable. Topical anaesthetic cream is available for sensitive areas, and most hyaluronic acid fillers contain a small amount of local anaesthetic within the product. The lips are the most sensitive area and can produce more discomfort than other areas, but most patients find this tolerable. Post-treatment tenderness usually resolves within 24 to 48 hours.

Yes. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved at any time using an enzyme injection called hyaluronidase. Dissolution is typically complete within 24 to 48 hours of the enzyme being administered. This reversibility is one of the key reasons hyaluronic acid fillers are the only type we use at Heritage Smile Group. We do not use permanent or semi-permanent fillers.

The amount of filler needed depends on the area being treated, the degree of volume loss or the enhancement being sought, and the individual anatomy of your face. At your consultation the clinician will assess your face and recommend the appropriate amount of product for your goals, always starting conservatively. It is always possible to add more at a follow-up appointment if the initial result is insufficient. It is not possible to remove filler without dissolving it.

Bruising is a possibility after any injection-based treatment and is more common with filler than with anti-wrinkle injections because filler involves placing product in the tissue rather than just at the muscle surface. The likelihood and severity of bruising varies between patients and areas. The lips and tear troughs tend to bruise more readily than the cheeks or jawline. Using a fine cannula rather than a needle reduces the risk of bruising in some areas. Avoiding blood-thinning medications including aspirin, ibuprofen, and certain supplements in the week before treatment can also help.

Yes, with some considerations. If you have had filler administered at another practice, it is important to let the clinician know which areas have been treated, with what product if known, and approximately when. This information helps the clinician assess how much existing filler may still be present and plan the treatment appropriately. If there is any uncertainty about the product previously used, the clinician will take a conservative approach.

Dermal fillers add volume. Fat dissolving injections, which are a different treatment entirely, reduce localised fat deposits beneath the skin. They address different concerns and are not interchangeable. Heritage Smile Group does not currently offer fat dissolving injections. The clinician will be happy to advise on alternative treatments that may address your concern.

No. Dermal filler treatments are contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding and will not be administered under these circumstances. We will always ask about pregnancy status at your consultation and treatment will not be administered if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
