Most People Do Not Want to Change One Thing About Their Smile. They Want to Change Several.
The gap between the smile you have and the smile you want is rarely just one thing. It is usually a combination of things that have quietly accumulated over the years. Teeth that have shifted slightly. Colour that has dulled. A chip that never got fixed. Proportions that have never quite looked right. Individually none of them feels like enough to do something about. Together they add up to a smile you avoid showing.
A smile makeover is what happens when you stop managing those things individually and address them all at once, in the right sequence, with a clinician who understands how to design a result that works as a whole rather than a collection of separate treatments.
At Heritage Smile Group, smile makeovers are led by Dr Natasja Kashyap, who holds an MSc in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics from the University of Manchester and a Diploma of Membership from the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Prosthodontics is the discipline of designing and restoring teeth to look right, function correctly, and last. It is precisely the qualification that makes a clinician exceptional at smile makeover work, because it demands an understanding of how teeth, gum tissue, facial structure, and bite all interact simultaneously.
Dr Natasja’s consultations are thorough, honest, and genuinely useful. She listens carefully to what you want, assesses what is possible, and designs a plan that gets you there in the most efficient and clinically sound way available.
What a Smile Makeover Actually Involves
A smile makeover is not a single treatment. It is a structured, individually designed treatment plan that combines two or more cosmetic and restorative procedures to address multiple aspects of a patient’s smile in a co-ordinated way.
The term gets used loosely in dentistry, sometimes to describe little more than teeth whitening combined with a clean. At Heritage Smile Group, a smile makeover means something more specific: a clinician-designed plan that considers every element of your smile, sequences the treatments in the right order, and produces a result that looks cohesive and entirely natural.
The treatments that might form part of a smile makeover include any combination of the following, depending on what you want to change and what will produce the best result for your individual case.
Porcelain Veneers
Custom-designed ceramic shells bonded to the front of the teeth to improve shape, colour, and proportion. Often the centrepiece of a comprehensive smile makeover.
Composite Bonding
Tooth-coloured resin used to reshape, repair, and improve individual teeth. Can be used alone for minor transformations or as part of a larger makeover plan.
Invisalign
Clear aligner orthodontics to straighten and reposition teeth before or alongside cosmetic treatments. Properly aligning the teeth first often improves the final cosmetic result significantly.
Teeth Whitening
Professional whitening to establish the right base colour before veneers or bonding are designed. Getting the shade right at this stage makes the overall result more cohesive.
Gum Contouring
Where uneven or excessive gum tissue affects the appearance of the smile, reshaping the gumline can improve symmetry and proportion significantly. Sometimes a critical step in achieving the right overall result.
Crowns and Restorations
Where teeth are heavily damaged or broken, crowns may form part of the makeover plan to restore function and appearance at the same time.
Why the Clinician Designing Your Smile Matters as Much as the Treatments Themselves
A smile makeover is only as good as the person designing it. The treatments involved are all well-established. The difference between a result that looks genuinely beautiful and one that looks obviously cosmetic, or worse, mismatched, comes down entirely to the quality of the design thinking behind it.
Dr Natasja approaches every smile makeover as a design problem. She considers the proportions of your existing teeth, the shape of your face, the colour of your skin, the height of your gumline, the way your lips frame your smile at rest and when you laugh, and the relationship between your upper and lower teeth when you bite. All of these factors interact. Changing one of them affects the others.
Her MSc in Prosthodontics is directly relevant here. Prosthodontics is the dental discipline most concerned with exactly this kind of multi-factorial design thinking. It is not simply about making teeth look white and even. It is about understanding the biomechanics and aesthetics of the whole mouth and designing restorations that work within all of those constraints at once.
The result is a smile that looks natural because it has been designed to look natural, not because it happened to turn out that way.
Your Smile Makeover Starts with a Conversation
The most important part of any smile makeover is the consultation. Not the treatment. Not the materials. The conversation.
Dr Natasja’s initial consultations are longer than a standard dental appointment. She uses that time to understand what you actually want to change, what you have thought about before, what your concerns are, and what your lifestyle and budget look like. She asks questions that most dental consultations do not ask, because she understands that the right treatment plan depends on knowing the person, not just examining the teeth.
She will also show you what is possible. Using digital smile design tools and clinical photography, she can give you a visual sense of potential outcomes before you have committed to anything. Some patients arrive with very clear ideas. Others arrive with a vague sense of wanting something better without knowing exactly what. Both are absolutely fine starting points.
What you will leave with is a clear, honest treatment plan that tells you exactly what is recommended, in what order, over what timescale, and at what cost. No surprises. No hidden additions. No pressure to proceed on the day.

Your Smile Makeover Journey, Stage by Stage
We aim to make the referral process as straightforward as possible for referring practices.
Consultation
Dr Natasja carries out a thorough assessment including clinical examination, photographs, and where relevant digital scanning. She discusses your goals, explains her initial thoughts, and answers every question you have. You leave with a clear picture of what is possible and what it will involve.
Treatment Planning
Based on the consultation, Dr Natasja designs your treatment plan. Every treatment is specified, every sequence is justified, and the overall timeline is set out clearly. You will receive this in writing so you have everything you need to make a fully informed decision.
Foundation Treatments
Where the plan includes Invisalign or whitening as foundation steps, these are carried out first. Straightening and whitening the teeth before applying veneers or bonding ensures the cosmetic treatments are built on the right foundation and produces a more cohesive long-term result.Cosmetic Treatments
Veneers, composite bonding, gum contouring, and any other cosmetic procedures are carried out in the planned sequence. Dr Natasja checks the result at each stage and makes adjustments as needed to ensure the final outcome matches the design.
Completion and Review
Once all treatments are complete, Dr Natasja carries out a full review. She checks the aesthetics, the bite, the gum health, and your comfort with the result. Any fine adjustments are made at this stage.
Ongoing Maintenance
Maintaining your smile makeover results long term requires good oral hygiene, regular hygiene appointments, and routine check-ups. Dr Natasja will advise on the best maintenance routine for your specific treatments.

The Clinician Behind the Referrals
Dr Nikhil Oberai holds an MSc in Implant Dentistry from the University of Manchester, carries a 99.5% success rate, and teaches implant dentistry at postgraduate level. He practises across Heritage Smile Group’s two Cheshire locations in Wilmslow and Northwich, and accepts referrals from practices across the region for complex and demanding implant cases.
What Sets Dr Nik Apart as a Referral Clinician:
Postgraduate Level Training
Dr Nik’s MSc in Implant Dentistry from the University of Manchester is not a short course. It is a multi-year, clinically assessed programme that represents the highest level of implant qualification available in the UK. The depth of knowledge and surgical experience it requires underpins everything he does at the chair.
A 99.5% Success Rate Across Hundreds of Cases
That figure reflects consistency across a large and varied case load. It is the result of meticulous planning, precise execution, and a commitment to following each case through to its long-term outcome rather than simply placing implants and moving on.
Teaching and Examining at Postgraduate Level
As an Honorary Clinical Teaching Fellow at the University of Manchester, a mentor at the Cambridge Implant Academy, and an external examiner for the BAIRD Implant Course, Dr Nik is actively involved in shaping the standards to which other implant clinicians are trained. That involvement keeps his own practice current, scrutinised, and evidence-based.
Transparent Communication with Referring Practices
We know that referring practices need to feel confident that their patients are in good hands and that they will be kept informed throughout. We provide written reports following assessment and on completion of treatment, and we are always available to discuss a case with the referring clinician directly.

Questions Patients Ask About Smile Makeovers
How long does a smile makeover take?
The duration depends on which treatments are included. A makeover involving only composite bonding and whitening might be completed in a few weeks. A comprehensive plan involving Invisalign followed by veneers will typically take twelve to eighteen months from start to finish, with the Invisalign treatment making up the majority of that time. Dr Natasja will give you a clear timeline as part of your written treatment plan.
How much does a smile makeover cost?
The cost depends entirely on the combination of treatments included. A makeover based around composite bonding will cost significantly less than one involving porcelain veneers. Dr Natasja will provide a clear, itemised cost breakdown as part of your treatment plan so there are no surprises. Finance options are available to spread the cost over monthly payments.
Will my smile makeover look natural?
In experienced hands, yes. The goal of a well-designed smile makeover is a result that looks like your own teeth at their best, not an obviously cosmetic set of teeth. Dr Natasja’s prosthodontics training is specifically concerned with designing restorations that integrate naturally with the rest of the face. Her patients consistently describe their results as looking like a better version of themselves.
Do I need to have all the treatments at once?
No. Some patients prefer to phase their treatment for budgetary reasons or personal preference, starting with the treatments that address their biggest concerns first. Dr Natasja will design a plan that can be delivered in phases if that is preferable, ensuring each phase works as a standalone improvement and builds towards the complete result over time.
What is the difference between a smile makeover and just getting veneers?
Veneers are one treatment. A smile makeover is a designed plan that may include veneers alongside other treatments, sequenced in the right order to produce the best overall result. Many patients who come in asking for veneers benefit from having their alignment or colour addressed first, which improves the final veneer result significantly. A smile makeover treats the whole picture rather than one element of it.
I am nervous about going to the dentist. Is a smile makeover still possible?
Absolutely. Many of Dr Natasja’s smile makeover patients are nervous patients who have put off treatment for years because of dental anxiety. Her consultations are unhurried, her communication is clear, and she never pushes anyone into treatment they are not ready for. We can discuss what would make your visits more comfortable before you commit to anything.
