Anti-wrinkle injections are one of the most commonly requested treatments we offer and one of the most misunderstood. When administered conservatively by an experienced clinician, the results do not freeze or immobilise the face. They soften the dynamic lines that develop from repeated facial expressions over time, reducing their visibility while preserving natural movement and expression.

The treatment involves small injections of a purified protein into specific facial muscles. The protein temporarily relaxes the muscle activity that causes dynamic wrinkles, reducing the depth and visibility of lines in the treated area. The effect builds over the following seven to fourteen days and lasts for approximately three to four months initially, with some patients finding the duration extends with repeated treatments over time.

Are anti-wrinkle injections safe?

Anti-wrinkle injections using botulinum toxin have been used in medical and cosmetic settings for decades and have a well-established safety record when administered by a qualified clinician who understands facial anatomy. At Heritage Smile Group, treatments are carried out by dental clinicians whose training is grounded in the detailed anatomy of the face. Side effects such as bruising, redness, or minor asymmetry are possible but temporary. Serious complications are rare and are minimised further when treatment is administered by an experienced clinician.

Is there any downtime after facial aesthetics treatment?

Most patients return to normal activity immediately or within a few hours of treatment. Minor redness or tenderness at injection sites typically resolves the same day. Bruising is possible, particularly with filler treatment, and can take a few days to resolve. We advise avoiding vigorous exercise, alcohol, and direct heat for 24 hours after treatment.

How soon will I see results?

Anti-wrinkle treatment results build gradually over seven to fourteen days as the muscle activity reduces. Dermal filler results are visible immediately, though initial swelling may mean the settled result takes 48 to 72 hours to be fully apparent. A review appointment at two weeks is included for all new patients to assess the result and make any minor adjustments.

Can facial aesthetics treatments be reversed?

Anti-wrinkle injections wear off naturally over three to four months and do not need to be reversed. Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can be dissolved at any point using an enzyme injection if a patient wishes to remove the filler before it metabolises naturally. This reversibility is one of the reasons hyaluronic acid fillers are consistently preferred over permanent or semi-permanent filler products.

What is the minimum age for facial aesthetics treatment?

Facial aesthetics treatments at Heritage Smile Group are available to patients aged 18 and over. We do not offer facial aesthetics treatments to patients under 18 under any circumstances.

Can I have facial aesthetics treatment while pregnant or breastfeeding?

No. Facial aesthetics treatments including anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers are contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding and will not be administered under these circumstances.We will always ask about pregnancy status at your consultation and treatment will not be administered if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Can I have facial aesthetics and dental treatment at the same appointment?

In some cases, yes, depending on the treatments involved. Dr Natasja will advise on the most appropriate sequencing at your consultation. For patients who are having a significant course of dental treatment alongside facial aesthetics, it is often better to sequence the treatments thoughtfully rather than combining them in a single appointment.

How much do facial aesthetics treatments cost?

Treatment costs depend on the area being treated and the amount of product required. Your exact cost will be confirmed at your consultation. There is no obligation to proceed following a consultation and no pressure to commit on the day.
