Is Your Situation a Dental Emergency? Don't Wait, Dental Problems Get Worse, Not Better.

Severe Toothache

Persistent, throbbing pain that is keeping you awake or getting worse. This is a sign of infection. It will not resolve on its own.

Facial Swelling or Abscess

A swelling in the face, jaw, or gum that is spreading or accompanied by fever. If swelling is affecting your breathing or swallowing, call 999 immediately.

Knocked-Out Tooth

Act within the hour. Pick up the tooth by the crown, not the root. Store in milk or between your cheek and gum. Call us immediately and come straight in.

Broken or Chipped Tooth

Causing pain, sharp edges, or sensitivity. Call us the same day. Bring any broken pieces with you if possible.

Lost Filling or Crown

Leaving the tooth exposed and sensitive. Call us and we will arrange a prompt appointment to protect the tooth while a permanent repair is planned.

Severe Gum Pain or Bleeding

Significant gum pain, swelling, or bleeding that is not resolving. Call us and describe your symptoms so we can advise on the urgency.

Common Dental Emergencies We Treat

Toothache & Dental Pain

Persistent tooth pain often signals infection, decay, or nerve damage. We identify the cause and relieve pain quickly with appropriate treatment.

Chipped, Cracked, or Broken Teeth

Accidents happen. We repair damaged teeth using composite bonding, crowns, or veneers depending on severity.

Lost Filling or Crown

An exposed tooth is vulnerable to damage. Replace it promptly for protection.

Bleeding Gums

Heavy or prolonged bleeding may indicate trauma or disease. Seek immediate help.

Bleeding or Swollen Gums

Early signs of gum disease that shouldn't be ignored. Professional cleaning and improved oral hygiene can reverse gum inflammation before it becomes serious.

What Happens at Your Emergency Appointment

Step 1: We assess the problem

The clinician examines the affected area, takes any necessary x-rays, and identifies the cause. You receive a clear explanation of what is happening and what the options are.

Immediate treatment to address the source of pain where possible. This may include draining an abscess, placing a temporary filling, removing a failing tooth, or starting root canal treatment. You will not leave in the same pain you arrived with.

The emergency appointment addresses the immediate problem. The longer-term treatment plan is discussed at the same appointment or shortly after, so you leave knowing exactly what happens next.

Nervous About Going to the Dentist?

You’re Not Alone and You’re Genuinely Welcome Here

Dental anxiety and dental emergencies often go together. Many patients who come to us in pain have been putting off visiting a dentist for a long time, and a problem that started small has become urgent. We understand that completely, and there is no judgement here.

Dr Nik and the team are well known for making anxious patients feel safe. We’ll explain everything before we do it, work at your pace, and focus first on getting you out of pain. That’s all that matters today.

Common Questions Asked by Patients

Will I be seen on the same day?

We do everything possible to see emergency patients the same day they call. Please call as early as possible and describe your situation clearly so we can prioritise accordingly. If one practice cannot accommodate you immediately, we will check availability at the other.

No. We welcome new patients in emergencies. Call either practice, describe your situation, and we will arrange an appointment.

📞 Wilmslow: 01625 523 524 📞 Northwich: 01606 44394

Call NHS 111, they operate a 24-hour dental triage service and can direct you to an out-of-hours emergency dental provider in your area if needed. For severe facial swelling that is affecting your breathing or swallowing, go to A&E or call 999 immediately. We open from 8:30am to 6:30pm and will prioritise emergency calls first thing.

All emergency treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic. You should not feel pain during the procedure. Most patients leave significantly more comfortable than when they arrived.

No. A dental infection will not resolve without clinical treatment. Antibiotics can control the spread but they do not treat the underlying cause. Prompt clinical attention is always the right course of action.

Yes. Both practices welcome children as patients. We also offer a children’s practice plan at £5.50 per month, which includes two dental check-ups per year.
